Level 3 BTEC in Art & Design: Colour Project (2nd Year)

As the title of this page suggests this project was based on colour, above our pages scanned in from my sketchbook for this project, starting with looking at a small section of my still life set up painted using complementary colours and analogous colours. Underneath is pages on theory behind colour an the symbolism of each colour in terms of emotion and what colours mean in terms of fashion.

I started sampling in paper working in the styles of Jen Stark and Cy Twombly to create a paper hanging.

I arrived at this for my final hanging combining the techniques of both of these artists and sticking with the complementary colours of blue and orange. The hanging ended the first part of this project.

These are images of my corset and skirt that I made for the second part of the project, I took the colour blue from my hanging but decided that for this part instead of using the complementary opposite of blue being orange, I chose to use the analogous colours of shades of red. The corset was made out of 8 different panels all hand stitched together and the skirt was made out of 2 different pieces stitched together with a zip added to the side.
