To learn more about this artist that fascinates me so much I have began reading his autobiography, there's nowhere better to retrieve information on a person than the words written by them so I'm hoping to learn a lot from this book.
Jane Fairhurst:
Jane Fairhurst is a practicing artist and is based at Cross Streets Studios in Standish, having a current practicing artist come in and talk to us about her previous and current projects was great, as it was inspiring for me to try harder and to get to where I want to be. I loved how honest she was with us when she told us that being an artist doesn't mean that you're going to be rich and whilst if I did manage to make money off my artwork that isn't the reason why I am studying art and wanting to move on to be a practicing artist myself. I am passionate about art and throughout secondary school to now, drawing was the one thing that I truly enjoyed and did because I wanted to not because I had to. I would really like to have my own studio space one day with other artists as being isolated and working alone doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, I really enjoy hearing other peoples opinions on work that I am doing and discussing how I can move forward, a task that would be impossible if I was alone in a studio. Looking through Jane's sketchbooks and seeing the work that she has produced and having visual evidence of how she has progressed from one idea to another.
